Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Bill starts Committee stage

The Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Bill has started its Committee stage in Parliament.  On 25 October, it heard from a number of witnesses including UK Finance and the BVCA, the NCA and Companies House. The witnesses were questioned on a range of matters, including:

  • whether the Bill goes far enough
  • treatment of crypto
  • data sharing and the importance of GDPR protection
  • protection from liability
  • the role, responsibility and resources of Companies House

Witness questioning continues on 27 October, with the line by line consideration due to begin on 1 November, with the last sitting proposed for 24 November.
