Treasury Committee to question OFSI on sanctions effectiveness

The Treasury Committee is to question OFSI as part of its inquiry into effective economic sanctions on Russia.

The session will take place on 22 June and is likely to include discussion on the challenges of implementing the sanctions, how prepared OFSI was for the workload involved and how quickly it adapted.

More widely, the Committee will want views on whether the UK sanctions regime as a whole is flexible, rigorous and effective enough, whether the monetary penalties policy is appropriate and will be looking to  understand levels of compliance and evasion within the regime.
