NCA updates SAR Glossary codes

NCA has published updated guidance on SAR Glossary Codes and Reporting Routes. The booklet follows the familiar form, providing:

  • a checklist aimed at establishing whether the circumstances require immediate attention (eg a DAML SAR, or whether immediate risks are presented to children or vulnerable persons;
  • guidance on relevant factors such as the involvement of professionals, the presence of PEPs, or whether the report relates to the proceeds of bribery;
  • whether the laundering relates to certain specific economic crime offences;
  • whether the laundering is linked to sanctioned entities;
  • whether the reporter wants to return money to the victim of crime;
  • codes to use for specific requests;
  • guidance on expected content and detail of a SAR; and
  • codes relevant for TACT SARs.
