ESMA consults on MiFID 2 suitability

ESMA is reviewing its guidelines on the MiFID 2 suitability requirement, with a view to updating them in respect of sustainability.  It is looking particularly at collecting client information on sustainability preferences, assessing them and organisational requirements within firms, such as appropriate staff training.

It is also taking the opportunity to consider factors such as integrating the good and poor practices in the 2020 Common Supervisory Actions to complement the guidelines and taking into account the amendments to MiFID 2 made through the Capital Markets Recovery Package.

Consultation closes on 27 April.
