Contactless card payment limit increased to £100

As of Friday 15 October 2021, the spending limit for contactless card payments has been increased to £100. The decision of HM Treasury and FCA to raise the limit from the previous cap of £45 was made following the successful increase from £30 to £45 in April 2020.

As with previous limits, customers are fully protected against losses resulting from unauthorised card fraud, and in-built security checks will monitor the amount and frequency of contactless spending.

Customers may find that retailers are not able to immediately offer the increased limit due to the number of terminals that need to be updated.
