Mansion House speech heralds new era for UK financial services

Rishi Sunak’s Mansion House speech has outlined the reforms the UK is undertaking so the financial services industry can lead both domestically and internationally in the sector.  Treasury also produced a roadmap of progress. He noted that the hoped-for agreements with the EU on equivalence have not happened, and noted the UK now intends to strengthen its existing regime. He discussed the UK’s plans for cooperation with other third countries outside the EU, specifically the US, Singapore and Switzerland. Future initiatives will keep as their focus an open and global hub, to be at the forefront of technology and innovation, to be a world leader in green finance and to be a competitive market place promoting effective use of capital.
