FCA extends temporary crypto registration regime

FCA has extended the date of the Temporary Registrations Regime for cryptoasset businesses until 31 March 2022.  The regime, which allows businesses that were in existence and applied for registration before 16 December 2020 to carry on business before FCA had approved their registration under the MLRs.  It had been due to expire on 9 July 2021, but FCA has need to extend it.  Its assessment of applications has led to it noting significant numbers of businesses who do not meet its standards and who have had to withdraw their applications, and FCA now needs time to continue its assessments.
