EC seeks views on plan to review EU distance marketing rules

The European Commission is seeking feedback on its proposals to review the EU legislation on distance marketing of financial services, following concerns that it is not fit for purpose. The current legislation supports the free movement of financial services in the EU by harmonising consumer protection rules for financial services sold online, by phone or by mail.

Feedback on the proposals must be provided by 25 June 2021. A public consultation will follow in Q3 this year.
