Following consultation, the CMA has now published its annual plan for 2021-2022. The CMA has identified four key themes on which it intends to concentrate:
- protecting consumers and driving recovery during and after the coronavirus pandemic (with a particular focus on protecting vulnerable consumers from breaches of consumer and competition law and poorly functioning markets);
- assuming its place as a global competition and consumer protection authority as it takes on new responsibilities following Brexit;
- fostering effective competition in digital markets; and
- supporting the transition to a low carbon economy.
