NCA updates SARs guidance for supervisors

NCA has published an updated version of its guidance to AML supervisors on submitting better quality SARs. It reiterates the importance of:

  • the SAR being clear and concise, explicitly setting out the reason for suspicion and the context of the SAR submission;
  • clear details of the reason for suspicion, including who is involved, how, details of the criminal property, and dates;
  • completion of all the fields;
  • clearly including references to any relevant previous SARs while also including all the required details;
  • use of all appropriate codes; and
  • inclusion of all necessary information when making a DAML SAR, including what action the reporter is being asked to perform and what a defence is required against.
