Committee highlights Breathing Space regulations’ importance

The House of Lords Secondary Legislation Scrutiny Committee has published its report in which it discussed the Breathing Space regulations. It drew attention to the importance of the regulations, and recommended that, given the number of people who could benefit from the moratarium offered and the limited number of qualified advisers,  the Government consider establishing a Register of authorised professional debt advisers. The report also explains other questions raised by the Committee and clarified by Treasury, such as how the potential register of those who benefit from moratoria will be kept and used. The Committee has asked Treasury to produce a more detailed explanatory memorandum to accompany the draft Regulations.
