Barnier to be EU negotiator on post-Brexit issues

The Council of the EU has adopted a decision authorising negotiations between the EU and UK towards a new partnership and authorising the European Commission, in the person of Michel Barnier, as the EU negotiator.  The part of the negotiating directives that relates to financial services reaffirms the intention to use unilateral equivalence frameworks as the basis going forwards.
