EC sets out position statement on equivalence decisions

The EC has published a communication about equivalence decisions (the timing of which is no doubt entirely unrelated to the ascension of pro-Brexit Boris Johnson to the Prime Ministership of the UK).

The communication sets out the framework for taking and monitoring equivalence decisions and recaps the overall purpose of them.  In this context the EC warns that equivalence decisions may be withdrawn if it is deemed that there is not ongoing compliance, and that equivalence decisions will not just be determined by regulatory analysis but also by risk assessment of the impact on EU markets.
