EC clarifies scope of PRIIPs regulation to bonds

Following a request for guidance in July 2018 on the treatment of bonds under the PRIIPs regulation, the EC has reiterated that the assessment of whether a particular bond is a PRIIP or not must be performed on a case-by-case basis and should consider all the features of the bond in question.

In particular, it will be necessary to assess whether the terms and conditions of the bond provide for different payments in the event of a range of pay-out events.
