Treasury makes Cyber-Attack Asset Freezing Regs

Treasury has made the Cyber-Attacks (Asset-Freezing) Regulations 2019. The Regulations, made following ah EU Regulation, create a new set of designations under the financial sanctions regime aimed at potential cyber-attackers. The EU Regulation is aimed at cyber attacks that originate or are carried out outside the EU, or with the support of someone outside the EU. The Regulation includes a non-exhaustive list of what cyber-attacks might constitute a threat to Member States such that sanctions should apply.
