Europe reaches political agreement on reforms to EU supervision

The European Parliament and Member States have reached agreement on core elements of the reform of European supervision of financial markets, including strengthening the supervisory framework in the area of anti-money laundering.

The EBA will be given new powers in this respect as well as strengthening the European Systemic Risk Board’s ability to detect risks to financial stability.

Technical work on developing final texts will now follow.
