Emma RadmoreECON and the Civil Liberties committee in the EP are pressing for further amendments to MLD4 to allow EU citizens to be able to access registers of company beneficial owners without having to show they have a “legitimate interest”. They also called for a public register showing the beneficial owners of trusts. Other changes discussed included requiring virtual currency platforms and custodian wallet providers to carry out the same CDD as other firms within the scope of the legislation, and lowering the threshold above which identification requirements are required on pre-paid cards to €150. The report now goes to EP plenary vote.
